Bagasse and Sugar Moisture

The MOISTSCAN MA-500 has proven to be very useful within the Sugar Industry. Callidan Instruments is located in the heart of Australia’s sugar industry and has succeeded in applying the gauge to both prepared cane and bagasse applications.

Typically the MOISTSCAN MA-500 obtains an instrument precision of 0.6% for products which have a moisture range of 25% - 40%.

The main applications for the MA-500 include,
Moisture control for prepared sugar cane
Plant feedback by analysing moisture content of crushed sugar cane
Measurement of total moisture of bagasse for control of fuel for power stations.

Clients involved with the MOISTSCAN MA-500 currently include the Sugar Research Institute (Australia), and the Racecourse Mill ( owned by Mackay Sugar).

The MOISTSCAN MA-500 is installed either after the crushers or after de-watering of bagasse, before it is fed to the boiler.
