Why use Microwave?
Microwave is universally considered the most accurate and reliable
technology available for measuring moisture inline.
Whilst older competing technologies such as near infrared, capacitance
and conductance are suitable laboratory instruments; microwave is the
technology of choice when real-time process control is required.
Microwave technology is superior to competing technologies,
particularly near infrared (NIR), for the following reasons:
NIR is a reflectance technique and only measures surface moisture.
Microwave on the other hand is transmitted through the entire profile
of the material ensuring greater accuracy.
Slight colour variations in the material being analyzed significantly
affect the accuracy of NIR. Microwave on the other hand is not
affected by colour.
Changes in ambient lighting affect the accuracy of NIR. Microwave is
not affected by ambient light variation.
NIR instrumentation is particularly prone to dusty, dirty environments
where material build-up on the lens causes major problems. On the
other hand material build-up on microwave antenna does not compromise
accuracy.
The Moist///Scan takes the microwave technique to another level by
incorporating a PATENTED technique to give reliable, repeatable real
time results.
Latest updates to the Moist///Scan include the
SERIES II upgrade to give even better
competitive advantages over its direct competitors.
